5 Great camping activity ideas with a difference for the August Bank Holiday weekend

Campingninja has put together 5 great August Bank Holiday ideas, all with campsite availability and all bookable through Campingninja right now!

  • Climb a mountain - Why not challenge yourself by climbing Wales' highest, Mount Snowdon? With 6 different walking routes to the summit (between 3.25 and 5 miles long) you have plenty of choice. It's an accessible climb to all with an average fitness level and the views are incredible. You can of course cheat and use the Snowdon Mountain Railway (Adult £25 return; Child £18 return). It's worth noting that walking, of course, is free! 2 great campsites nearby: White Tower Holiday Park, Caernarfon (best of both worlds near the beach and the mountains); Beddgelert Caravan and Camping site (beautifully set in the woods and mountains of Northern Snowdonia).
  • Learn essential survival skills with a forest ranger Includes map reading, edible plants and shelter building. Suitable for over 8s and adults.  Available at campsites Spiers House in Yorkshire, Cobleland in Strilingshire, Scotland and Glenmore in Cairngorms, Scotland

All of the above campsites and many more have availability for the August Bank holiday weekend and all can be booked online in 5 minutes through Campingninja.com.  No more ringing around campsites, no more firing off booking forms and waiting days for a reply and no more sending off cheques!

The surge in camping popularity is reaching new levels. More and more of us are buying, borrowing or dusting off our tents and getting out there to enjoy a Great British experience. Camping is the perfect base to get involved in a variety of activities up and down the country. With Campingninja you can find availability quickly and make a booking even for the August Bank holiday weekend. It's not too late to get things sorted for the August Bank holiday weekend or any time in the up and coming weeks.

Editor's Notes

Campingninja was founded by Geoff Vaughan and Rhian Evans (they love camping) in September 2009. The Campingninja idea was born from frustration when trying to find and book campsites themselves.

Campingninja won the TTG’s  “The Big Idea” Competition (a Dragon's Den Style travel industry prize where they were competing with 32 other businesses for the investment from four travel entrepreneurs) in September 2009.

Campingninja was established with the goal of enabling as many people as possible to easily find and book a campsite online, mirroring the customer experience people have when booking other types of accommodation, such as hotels, hostels and B&Bs. This type of service has not been available to campers or campsites until now.

Campingninja allows all campsites, large and tiny, to have a level playing field and platform to sell their pitches – no set up fees or advertising costs or advantages for those with bigger budgets. It's all about giving campers a real choice.

Campingninja is supported by various tourism organisations including Visit Cornwall, South West Tourism, Northamptonshire Enterprise, Visit Peak District and the Green Business Tourism Scheme.

Campingninja is even supported by a ninja who camps around the UK representing us – people love him!
