It may be one of the most common questions we are asked? Why are you called "Campingninja"? How did you come up with it?
Well, it works best in the context of how the whole thing came about in the first place, which you can
read here.....
Basically, we had to think of a name, and fast. Our criteria were:
- had to have "camping" in it
- needed to be catchy and distinctive
- needed to be able to buy the .com domain for it
- had to feel right
So, we had about a 3 week brainstorm whereby we would both just keep adding names which came into our heads. It was getting closer and closer to the time we just had to decide, when Geoff came up with "Camping Wizard", which Rhian vetoed due to it reminding her of the annoying paper clip which pops up in Microsoft Word as soon as you write anything and says, "It looks like you're writing a letter, would you like to use a wizard for that"?
Then Geoff said, "Campingninja"..... and I immediately liked it. We quickly realised 3 things:
- "ninja" has a meaning of being stealthy and fast, which is what our website was to be
- "ninja" is the same word in every language as derived from Japanese
- "ninja" meant we could invent a ninja like character
- we could get the .com and every other domain for "Campingninja"
- definitely distinctive and hopefully unforgettable
It was a done deal. We loved it, it stuck and so was born...... campingninja.com
