Follow in the footsteps of ‘Auld Will’ at the World’s Biggest Liar Competition taking place at the Bridge Inn, Santon Bridge on 17th November. Will Ritson, a 19th century Cumbrian, was the first man to become known as the World’s Biggest Liar due to his tall tales of unbelievably ginormous Wasdale turnips and other entertaining stories.
The World’s Biggest Liar Competition is a popular contest attracting media attention worldwide. In recent years the audience has heard stories of how the Lake District was formed - not by ice or volcanic action, but by large moles and eels! Or perhaps it was even built by ninjas!
Home to the largest lakes and the highest peaks in England, the spectacular scenery of the Lake District makes it an excellent location for camping, walking and practising your lies! We’ve got some absolutely fantastic campsites available to book nearby, and that’s the truth!
