There is nothing unusual about enjoying a long weekend away camping for the Bank Holiday. However, spending your Bank Holiday Monday either watching or participating in the World Gravy Wrestling Championships could be construed as something out of the ordinary.
It is no wonder why the World Gravy Wrestling Championships were officially named ‘Britain’s Best Silly Event 2009’ as the laugh-a-minute tribute to the great British sense of fun provides entertainment for all the family.
Participants wrestle in 440 gallons of Lancashire Gravy in games lasting for 2 minutes, whilst being scored for audience applause and various different moves. The aim of the game is to pin the opponent down in the pool of gravy.
The wild and wacky competition also featuring inflatables, water bombs and fancy dress, is based on having fun and is without doubt one of the craziest culinary competitions in the world!
