Essential food to take camping

How many times have you decided to cook something whilst camping and realised you wish you had brought some oil, or salt or something you would always have when you cook at home? Then you have to wither go and buy some (hassle) or go without.... This is our short guide to essential (non-perishable) food items to keep in your camping box so you'll never be without again...

  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Sugar (have some in a small container)
  • Sweetener (if that's what you're into) - is easier to keep than sugar
  • Powdered milk, or unopened UHT (you can get small individual ones but that's not very eco-friendly) - it's better than no milk
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Mixed herbs and any other seasoning you like
  • Chilli flakes - always good for spicing something up
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Flour (great for sauces and pancakes)
  • Cup-a-soups
  • Noodles
  • Cereals
  • Porridge
  • Oil
  • Squash
  • A couple of bottles of beer / wine etc - never rely on an off-license being open when you arrive
