We have two traditional hay meadows with wildflowers that we maintain to encourage wildlife (including many species of bees , moths , butterflies , goldfinches).
With the river Dwyryd running alongside the campsite we try to keep it natural as possible to maintain the varied wildlife (which includes otters , kingfishers, dippers, sand martins, goosanders , sandpipers , long tailed tits , herons, comorants etc). We are planning a living willow bird hide for the future.
Varied planting of trees and shrubs to create wildlife corridors and provide food and shelter (we get many birds here including green finches, nuthatches, greater spotted woodpeckers, various owls, buzzards, red kites, tree creepers , swallows and swifts , chaffinches , blue, greater and coal tits, siskins and many others).
The new toilet block has been designed to have a low impact on the environment, ie natural materials have been used where possible, low energy light bulbs , and eco showers, we also try to recycle where possible.
Discount available for backpackers in 1/2man tents to encourage people to leave their car at home and walk to the site ( this discount applies to people who cycle here too)
